Clinical editorial methodology
How this luxury rehab list is evaluated
Order is based on publicly available information assessed against the use case in this guide: clinical governance, assessment, multidisciplinary capability, withdrawal and emergency planning, privacy, individualisation, family involvement, continuity, and aftercare. THE BALANCE is listed first where its one-client model most closely matches those stated criteria. This is a criteria-based editorial ranking, not a guarantee of outcomes or suitability. Verify current licensing, clinicians, services, availability, and admissions criteria directly.
Shortlist answer
How this list was built
The title refers to options for UK clients, not only facilities located in the UK. THE BALANCE does not describe London as a residential rehab; its residential programs are in Mallorca and Zurich. The list distinguishes international privacy from local regulated access.
We reviewed current official provider information and organized it around clinical/regulatory foundation, assessment and level-of-care fit, co-occurring care, staff model, privacy, family/continuing care and public transparency. We did not use self-published “success rates,” anonymous testimonials or décor as proof of clinical quality.
Local-care advantage: a UK center may simplify NHS coordination, prescriptions, family visits and emergency pathways. Travel advantage: an international program may create distance and privacy. The safer choice depends on clinical risk and continuity—not prestige.

Verify before admission: Review current Healthcare Improvement Scotland registration, clinician availability, room and group arrangements, treatment philosophy fit, and the individual plan for co-occurring conditions.
Delamere
Delamere describes a purpose-built residential addiction clinic in Cheshire, medically supported detox, 24-hour care, individual and group work, family support and aftercare. It publishes its Care Quality Commission status.
- Purpose-built private residential environment
- Published detox, therapy, family and aftercare pathway
- Current CQC information available for verification
Verify before admission: Check the latest CQC report, consultant and nursing presence, psychiatric scope, program length flexibility, total price and what happens if risk exceeds the site’s capability.
Priory Hospital Roehampton
Priory Hospital Roehampton publishes inpatient, medically assisted detox, outpatient and online addiction programs alongside wider mental-health services. Its current page shows a Care Quality Commission rating and named program formats.
- Hospital setting with addiction and broader psychiatric services
- Medically assisted detox and structured inpatient options

Verify before admission: Read the latest CQC report, confirm the responsible consultant, ward and group environment, the exact program offered, insurer terms and continuity after the fixed program ends.
UK Addiction Treatment Centres (UKAT)
UKAT operates multiple private treatment centers across the UK and describes medically supported detox, residential rehabilitation, co-occurring mental-health care, family support and alumni services. Each individual center should be checked separately.
- Multiple locations and levels of private residential provision
- CQC registration can be checked by individual center
- Detox, rehabilitation, family and alumni pathways published
Verify before admission: Do not rely only on network-level claims. Check the latest CQC report, staffing, medical capability, occupancy, environment and treatment details for the specific center offered.
How to make the final decision
Start with an independent assessment of withdrawal, medical and psychiatric risk. Then ask each remaining provider for its legal entity, current license or regulator, named clinical lead, overnight cover, emergency pathway, total cost, refund terms and booked continuing care. A center should be removed from consideration if it cannot safely manage the required level of care.
Limitations of this comparison
Services, teams, availability and regulation can change. Public websites cannot show how consistently care is delivered, and no comparable independent outcome dataset covers all providers. Verify material facts directly and use this page as a question-building tool rather than a clinical recommendation.
